Asset versions are getting created when asset is modified or published. Can we stop creating versions on modification?

Asset versions are getting created when asset is modified or published.I want to create asset version only on publish but not on asset modification. Can we stop creating versions when asset is modified? Can we differentiate asset version created by modification and publish? Also can we store versions in different folder?

Disable the version manager config in http://localhost:4502/system/console/configMgr

look for config : Day CQ WCM Version manager. Uncheck the check box

Currently by default, version is created on every modification of asset? Is there a configuration to disable it?

Hi,

There is no configuration to disable versioning for assets while assets are modified.

If you don't want to keep Version for assets, you can delete version from JCR using Version Purging API or schedules Version Purging
