AEM is down after disable/enable OSGI "Apache Jackrabbit Oak External PrincipalConfiguration"

On AEM 6.4.0, following the document to setup Asset Link , we did the following

  • Under "Apache Jackrabbit Oak External PrincipalConfiguration" DISABLE "External Identity Protection" (attached screenshot)
  • Make some changes to User properties
  • Enable "External Identity Protection"

After enabling, AEM is down and shows error as:

HTTP ERROR: 503

Problem accessing /. Reason:

AuthenticationSupport service missing. Cannot authenticate request.

Did we miss anything? Is this a known issue? Should we try to manually restart AEM?

Appreciate any help.

I would restart if you change such a fundamental setting. Although it should not be necessary. Can you check the log to find the reason why this error is thrown?
