AEM 6 Less compiler

We've found that the less version used by AEM is too old.

Is there a way to override this version or updating a updated component without breaking the whole component system?

The article is for yui & can try applying same logic to less.

I would recommend against replacing code in AEM to upgrade Less. A better route would be to open a case with support.
