ACS Commons Sitemap

ACS Commons Sitemap is setup is done and Publish domain is configured as the domain with */homepage resourceType

When content authors publish/unpublish pages, Sitemap does not get updated.

Issue: Couple of applications we use reply on Sitemap for indexing, we find 404 pages in logs during indexing. When any page is unpublished and sitemap does not get updated thus 404 and when new pages are published, links don't appear in the sitemap.

In the docs it is mentioned that sitemap gets generated when the requesting page of configured resourceType is hit with selector 'sitemap' and extension 'xml'. But it doesn't look to get updated.

Project shows that hitting the servlet will update the sitemap.. Can anyone explain how ACS Commons Sitemap get updated?
