AEM User Group Midwest Chapter Even Recap: Edge Delivery Services Authoring Options
Hi all!
We had a very engaging meeting with the community yesterday, where we explored different authoring options with Edge Delivery Services, which included a demo of Universal Editor with AEM Headless by Gary Fuller. A couple of highlights on what we discussed, and takeaways:
- Discussed the strategic decision between three Edge Delivery Services (EDS) authoring models: Document-based authoring (DA Live/Experience Workspace), Universal Editor (AEM Headless), and traditional AEM, focusing on governance, scalability, and developer overhead.
- Reviewed the features, pros, and cons of each model, including the new AI assistant in Experience Workspace and the in-context WYSIWYG capabilities of Universal Editor.
- Addressed specific technical challenges regarding asset publishing workflows, crosswalk availability for non-cloud instances, and search integration strategies for EDS.
- Agreed to consolidate community feedback on missing features (page locking, backend form validation) and share resources regarding Model Context Protocol (MCP) usage.
Thank you to everyone that participated, and if you missed it, be sure to check out the recording here:
