[WORKSPACE] Sorting by dimensions

Since the prehistory... In Adobe Analytics the possibility of sorting by dimension is something impossible.

Now we have workspace and I really dream to have it.

In freeform table we can sort by value we have in columns but not by value we have in rows. Please let's make it !! There are tons of reason why we need it. Try to think about a report where I'd like to have data sorted by Category of products, Zip codes, Order Id, Attributes of product...

I found a workaround for this which works well if the permuttaion count of your dimension is <= 400:
- Show all dimension values in a freeform table
- Select all of them
- Right-click and "show only selected columns"

-> Voilà, you can now sort by them.

Dangerous though if new metrics would come in, since they wouldn't be shown.

The good news is that we actually now support this in Customer Journey Analytics for all dimensions. The bad news is that for technical reasons this isn't possible in traditional Analytics. For more information on CJA you can check out:  CJA Spark Page

Any good news on this? I need to sort 'Industries' dimension alphabetically because client is used to viewing Industries by alphabetical order. The client finds it messy and hard to visualise when the industries are sorted by a corresponding metric.

It's doable if you have less than 400 values in the dimension. The trick is to mark them all, right click and chose "show only selected rows". Once done, they are sortable.

Caveat: new values won't appear in such a table until you change the selection.

@fwachsmuth  Thanks for the workaround! It's odd that we can only sort the selected dimension items.. this workaround is good for now for reporting purpose.

@fwachsmuth this is a great workaround for dimensions which don't expect new values. Thanks for the tip.
