Using the participation number in calculated metrics

I created a calculated metric using a custom event and made the attribution as participation.  In a Freeform table, a participation version of both a number and percentage are shown (e.g. 46  3.1%).

I want to use the resulting participation number, not the percentage, in another calculated metric.  However when I do, the calculation in the calculated metric doesn't seem to recognize either of them.

Is there a way to use a calculated participation metric in another calculated metric?  What about specifying either the number or the percentage to use?

The percentage is calculated as a share from total. You can use Total metrics in the calculated metrics builder to calculate the percent.

P.S.: sorry for tautology:)

It is absolutely possible to create a calculated metric with enabling attribution for the metrics it consists of. Could you provide more details regarding the challenge?

P.S.: A screenshot would be helpful.

I looked at it further.  It turns out that I can create a calculated metric that sees the number, but when I right click on the metrics to create one on the fly it fails:

It must be a bug of some sort.

Is there a way to reference the percentage rather than the number in participation metrics for use in calculated metrics?

I understand that I can calculate the percentage.  I was wondering if it is possible to refer to the participation percentage rather than the number.  It sounds like no.  Thanks.
