track/push eVar after initialization

Hi, I need to push an eVar through to Sitecatalyst AFTER the initialization, i.e after the tracking pixel has rendered. (i have a JS function that goes and gets an id from another service and I need to get this into sc)

Is this possible and if so, how can I do this without registering another page view etc?

Please use custom link tracking : http://microsite.omniture.com/t2/help/en_US/sc/implement/link_variables.html

This will not send another pageview but it will send another image request
