Segments based on specific dates

I would love the capability to build a segment based on criteria from a specific date range that is distinct from my current reporting date range (i.e. A subset of the reporting date range, or a range not even include in the reporting date range). Then I could run a report for this December looking specifically at visitors who purchased a year ago December.
