Report Builder Options

I have converted a legacy report builder into new report builder and have found that there is no way to show in the excel which is scheduled to email what segments have been applied to the data block. Displaying of the filter and report suite name are also not available. My excel has a number of brands and this was a sense check that data was being pulled. Please think about adding this back in.

Hi @JoCl ,

What do you mean you can’t see which segments or report suites are applied to a data block?

If you click on the Manage Tab,

you can see all the details of all your data blocks:

You can also group your data blocks by similarities:

Unless I am misunderstanding where you are missing this data?

Hi, I’d like to include this information in the Excel workbook output. In Legacy Report Builder, it was possible to display the report suite name (for example, above the data returned by the data block), so it’s clear which data source is being used when the file is scheduled and shared with agency partners who don’t have access to Adobe Analytics. Thanks for the tip about grouping data blocks, that is useful.

Hi @JoCl

You're not missing anything – in the new Report Builder the old "auto-print request header" (report suite / segment / filters row above the data block) simply doesn't exist anymore. Adobe explicitly calls out that some legacy Report Builder features are not supported in the new add‑in, and this is one of them. https://experienceleague.adobe.com/en/docs/analytics/analyze/report-builder/rb-overview

So today you have to use a workaround if you want recipients to see what's applied:

1. Expose segments via "filter from cell"

Use the new Filter from cell pattern so your filters/segments are literally written into visible cells in the workbook:

  • Create a tab like Parameters.
  • In one cell per brand, put the segment name or ID.
  • In each data block, set the segment to be driven from that cell (Filter from cell).
  • When the file is scheduled/emailed, anyone can see exactly which segment text is driving that block.
  • This capability is part of the new Report Builder enhancements: https://experienceleague.adobe.com/en/docs/analytics-platform/using/releases/2023

2. Document report suite in cells as well

Report suite can't be auto-written either, so:

Can you get the legacy-style printed header back?

Not in the current new Report Builder – it's a feature gap vs Legacy. The only option is to document RS + segments in cells yourself, usually via the "filter from cell" pattern.

Ah.. ok, that’s a feature I didn’t even know about in the old report builder… and based on @JoCl’s last comment, I agree… I would set up a dedicated “info” tab that contains information about the suites, segments, etc that is in use…  while it’s a little extra work, it would provide the visibility.. and where possible, using those cell references to drive the requests should mean you don’t have to make “double changes” if something does get updated.
