What could cause the People metric to differentiate from Unique Visitors? Theoretically, they should be the same.

People metric basically de-duplicates your Unique visitors over multiple devices. Its same as the unique visitors, if the visitor is using just one device. This page explains in good detail how it is calculated https://marketing.adobe.com/resources/help/en_US/mcdc/mcdc-people.html
