Multiple Dimensions columns in Adobe Workspace

It would be great to be able to have multiple dimension columns rather than having the information stacked. Currently whenever you breakdown dimensions it stacks this on a line by line basis which makes it harder to analyse and also looks messy for the end user.

This idea is duplicated by Workspace: Show freeform table breakdowns as columns in tabular format, adding an additional 10 votes to this idea.

In addition, v-tiwri presented an excellent mockup in the other thread that I want to make sure makes it here:

Hi guys, Gigazelle jen.lasser

Is there any progress with this?
I would like to know current status to understand how soon we can deploy reports that are depending on multiple dimension report.

Thanks for checking in on this. We met with several customers on this thread + others and have determined that there are other higher priority updates that need to be made in Analysis Workspace. This is something we are still considering though, the timeline is just a bit further out.

The advanced query builder project we are working will help address building multiple dimension reports much faster. Think Table Builder from Ad Hoc Analysis. We are aiming to release that in the spring.

In the meantime, you can use multiple dimensions in a report today, and multi-select items to break many things down at once.

We spent time researching this; it will remain on the backlog for consideration but there are some higher priority requests ahead of this.

As a starter for one would it be possible to have this functionality for sainted variables?

This would be helpful, as we can then see the groupings & we're not utilising a separate dimension (just a classification) - might be easier to implement?

Classifications are treated the same as dimensions to us under the hood, so not any easier to implement unfortunately. We do see value in this idea, there are just a handful of priorities ahead of it. We will keep it on our backlog for future consideration though!

I think this layout would be a much easier format to work with when exporting data as well.

On the odd occasion where I do export data with breakdowns I seem to spend a lot of time reformatting the data into a more usable format.  For instance, unlike today the above example format would work as the source data for a pivot table in excel with minimal/no re-formatting

Hi Andrew - thanks for that feedback. This view is something we are absolutely considering for exported data, which we are currently working on evolving. When I said this idea will remain on our backlog for the time being, I meant as a display option in the UI. Hope that helps!
