Make it possible to segment on the hit of the exit page and entry page

I would find it really useful to be able to isolate the first and last page view for a session (and therefore understand variable values passed in that metrics call) which is currently impossible.

For instance, in our data it would make it possible to see what error messages were seen on the final page view.  This could also be powerful when used in combination with sequential segmentation to see what happened within X number of views or X number of minutes of an entry/exit.

Hi Andrew

Here's your segment for the last page view (including all following s.tl() calls:

That's really useful - I couldn't figure out how to do this with segments but this works really well!

I also found a work around for isolating the first page view:

  • Use processing rules to set an event every time the page URL existed
  • serialize the event to record once per visit

This means the event only gets recorded on the first page view (all other attempts to set are ignored due to the serialization).  The event can then be segmented on.

Not sure if there was a pure segmentation way around the first page view thing as I never got to looking at this as the event worked well enough.

the problem with the event on first page view is that you miss the actions in the first page.

to isolate the first page view (and actions on the first page) is just like Audrey's Tipp about "how many... until..." (just adopt "all hits until PageView 2" and set the event on the 2nd pageview).
