In CJA, second-hits are attributed in Marketing channel

We are seeing second-hit entries being attributed to the CJA Marketing channel. However, in AA, they are classified correctly, as shown in the snapshot below.
Currently, we have named this additional attributed channel as “Internal Refresh” in CJA.
Is there anyway we can eliminate this data or is there anyway we can consider only "first hit of the visit" in CJA.

Here is the snapshot of CJA vs AA

Hi @VaishuNP, There are a couple of ways to do this in CJA. First, you can use Session Start metric instead of Sessions, that will filter by only the first hit of the session. That should eliminate any mid-session changes. Second, you can add an additional parameter to your Channel Rules (I assume you are using a derived field to create them):

You can use that to tune your channels further.

Lastly, you could alter the attribution of the Channel field to first value:

Any metrics used with channel then should always be set based on the 1st value for the session.

If using a metric such as Orders, you could alter the attribution for it to 1st value for session as well:

@EurosIMS Thank you so much for your response. I’ve applied the suggestions. Overall numbers have reduced; however, I can still see the channel as shown in the snapshot below. Could you please share what might be the reason?

Hi @VaishuNP

Sorry, what’s the question on that screenshot? It looks good to me!

There’s an internal URL associated with an internal channel?

What you need to remember is that a session expires after 30mins (unless you’ve altered that), so if I sit on a page for 30mins without any interactions then refresh, it’s a new session, new channel, & my first hit is internal. That usually explains that, especially for certain pages that are text heavy or may require users to do something else in a different tab/window.

The important thing there would be to check
a. All the URLs there are indeed internal
b. They are all noted as First Hit

If both of those are true, then it should be working as expected.

One last question—what level of discrepancy is considered normal when comparing channel data between Adobe Analytics (AA) and Customer Journey Analytics (CJA)? is it more than 5% or 10%?
