How to learn Adobe Analytics

Question

I have 6 years of experience in Web Analytics and SEO, and I'm certified in GA4 (Google Analytics). I'm now looking to upskill by learning Adobe Analytics, but I don't have access to any proper learning resources since it's a premium tool. I understand it's not easy to practice without real-time access, so if anyone can guide me or share a path to learn Adobe Analytics with real-time examples, I’d really appreciate your help!

If you don't currently have access, the best way to start is with the LinkedIn Learning courses by Eric Matisoff. There are two courses for Adobe Analytics and one for Customer Journey Analytics. But with all of them you get access to a sandbox environment, so you can practice along with the learning sessions. This is the link to the first one.

From there, you should check out the rest of Experience League. There are playlists, tutorials, articles, and so on that can help you learn. The playlists are a great place to start. https://experienceleague.adobe.com/en/playlists?solution=Analytics&role=User

You can also join different user groups. These are sessions run by users from around the world, some are in-person but most are virtual. You can join any of the groups that you want and attend to learn about different topics. The analytics champions office hours group is a good one for beginners, because we act like an actual office hours session - our topic is answers questions submitted by other users attending the sessions (I might be biased because I do also help run that group). https://analytics-augs.adobe.com/

I agree, the LinkedIn training courses are a great place to start. One thing to note though, is that the sandbox will only help you with the reporting aspect, and not the actual tagging or configuration aspect of Adobe Analytics.

However, seeing how the data works in the interface, and how to create segments and combine dimensions should help with the basics of how to plan out your own implementation.

Other resources like User Groups and Skill Exchange are also really good places to learn from other users who have worked with it.

That said, this forum is also a good resource... seeing questions posted by other people and the responses can help you build a basic knowledge base, and even if you don't have experience, feel free to ask questions about how to approach different situations, and see different ways to do something.

If you are really interested in understanding the technical side of things (without your own access), you can also take a peak into how different sites send info to Analytics...

With client-side App Measurement model, this is a lot easier to see the one to one correlation of data to the AA dimensions.

People who have switched to WebSDK is a little harder, because the information is send via Data Streams that may or may not be tied to specific dimension identifications (props, eVars, etc).

But your experience with GA will be an asset... fundamentally, AA and GA share a lot of core knowledge.. and yes, there are specifics that vary between the two (particularly in the UI and the ease of pulling data), but like anything, practice is the most important aspect.
