How come I'm getting so much unspecified for mobile screen size in AA using the ootb dimension? I’ve brought in mobile device then broke it down by mobile screen size.

What does unspecified mean?

In a breakdown, if the second variable was not seen on the hit or the first variable persisted from a previous hit, the breakdown row becomes Unspecified

    • primary dimension: Mobile Device
    • breakdown dimension: Mobile Screen Size

So, if a hit is still attributed to the device, but screen size was not available for that hit, you get Unspecified under that device.

I believe that the “Mobile” specific dimension is just for mobile devices, and anything other than that will be unspecified.

When I look at my data (Mobile Screen Size > Mobile Device)

The majority of my unspecifieds are from “None”… meaning not a mobile device… the other values are generic Android.. which I suspect are emulators, or just devices that aren’t sharing that information… a lot of this info is picked out of the User Agent or other signals.
