How can we calculate the sessions in AEP

Hello Experts,

In CJA, we have created a report with people, event and sessions.

In CJA dataview, we have setup session time to 30 mins. It is getting calculated accordingly.

Now, we want to validate the values in report with that of AEP.

Could someone please share the way how we can calculate it for sessions in AEP.

In report, it is filtered as person Id is dimension and session is the metric.

Thank you,

Shivani

Hi ShivaniM,

Im quite certain you can validate the session values in your report with those in AEP by creating a query using the 'platform query service'. You would need to calculate sessions based on the person ID dimension and session metric. I found this documentation that you could look into: : https://experienceleague.adobe.com/en/docs/experience-platform/query/sql/adobe-defined-functions#:~:text=Sessionization%20When%20you%20are,%202018-01-18%200655530%20%20%280%2C1%2Ctrue%2C1%29

And when you execute this query, I think you should get the session values from AEP so you can compare them with the values in your report. I don't know how much experience you have with the query service? I don't really use it myself, unfortunately.

But in the documentation, there is this example of a query:

Also, if you have enabled the AI assistent in AEP. Try also use that one. Maybe it can also guide you through this 😄

I hope this helps!
