Easier period trending in Discover (similar to SiteCatalyst)

Aside from the Page View report, it is very cumbersome to trend data in Discover - for instance, if i need to trend data monthly over a six month period, i need to create six separate columns and adjust the time period using the sliding bar at the bottom of the window. if Discover could have an elegant trending feature a la Site Catalyst, this would be a great new feature.
