Discover: Calculated Metric Enhancements

The calculated metric functionally in Discover is really good but it's missing 3 major things; which are the ability to: 

 

  • Use rolling dates in a calculated metric

For example: I really want to be able create reports that show week on week change.

 

  • Use dimensions in a calculated metric

If I've created a report using dimensions, I have go through converting all the dimensions to segments before I can create calculated metrics from the columns or start from scratch with my calculated metric (both of which are not very efficient)

 

  • Use Discover calculated metrics in SiteCatalyst & Report Builder

Discover segments can be used in SiteCatalyst and report builder.  It would be great if this principle could be extended to Discover calcuated metrics as it would add more flexibility into the products.

    Great suggestions, Andrew. We are looking at some significant improvements to calculated metrics across all of the Adobe Analytics components. We'll keep an eye on this idea as it gets votes and comments.

    Using calculated metrics in segments would be a huge help. We have many, many custom events that we'd like to use when creating segments. For example:

     

    (Custom Event 1 + Custom Event 2) / Visits

     

    We'd like to see this in all tools. Reports & Analytics, Report Builder, Ad Hoc Anaysis, etc.

    With the last release of Reports and Analytics we were able to allow you to use metrics created in Ad Hoc (Discover) to show up in Reports and Analytics and visa versa. We will continue to look at the others..
