Classification consolidation broke reporting

Question

I have 3 report suites that used the same classification. In the new classification sets, I consolidated these under one classification - the consolidation is complete.

Now, when I look for the fields in the classification, with the exception of the key, all the results are 'unspecified'

I've waited over 24 hours, thinking it might need to propagate through the data, but nothing. Naturally, this is data we use all the time.

What do I have to do to fix this? Do I just need to recreate the classifications for each report suite? I've read through the docs multiple times.

This is a common pitfall when consolidating Adobe Analytics classifications across report suites.

Why you’re seeing "Unspecified"

Classification data isn’t retroactive across suites: Even if you consolidated classifications into one set, the actual lookup tables for each report suite don’t automatically merge or reapply.
When you view the reports, Adobe is looking for a match between your key (eVar/prop value) and the uploaded classification file. If the key is there but the associated fields aren’t found, Adobe shows "Unspecified."
Since you said only the key is appearing, it means the classification mapping (the lookup table) hasn’t been properly applied after consolidation.

What you need to do

Re-upload the classification file to the new consolidated classification set
- Go to Admin > Classification Importer.
- Export your existing classification file (with all mappings).
- Re-upload it against the new consolidated classification.
- This ensures that Adobe repopulates all the values for the consolidated setup.
Apply to all affected report suites
- Even though you consolidated into one set, the data tables behind the scenes are still separate per report suite.
- You’ll need to either:
  - Upload the same classification file to each suite, or
  - Use Classification Rule Builder if you want a central set of rules that apply automatically across suites.
Wait for processing
- Unlike processing rules, classifications don’t apply instantly. It can take 24–72 hours for the classification data to propagate through the reports after re-upload.

Depending on classification structure you have, also make sure the Classification Hierarchies if any are also mapped.
