Anyone tested the new classification sets rules?

Classification rules are now available in classification sets.

I created a new classification set and added a rule with a regex and I wonder if any of you can shed some light on the following observations.

  1. According to the status, my new rule was directly activated without me explicitly activating it. Even after deactivating and saving, it reverts back to active.
  2. Testing the new rule gives me error messages. First it says “You have unsaved changes to your rules. Please save your changes and try again.”, although I saved it and did not change anything.
  3. After clicking on “Save rules” (again) and clicking on “Test rule set” it unhelpfully says  “Failed to test ruleset. Please try again.”

Are there known problems with saving/testing rules?

Eeek.. that doesn’t sound good. I have not yet tested this, before I potentially break my existing rules by redoing them, I planned on testing an all new rule for a new dimension first… I have an upcoming feature that I can use for this… but until that time, I don’t have a lot of good candidates to test with (though, I can probably use a dev environment and do something “silly” for testing purposes.

I will try to play on my side and see if I can replicate.

However, in the mean time, this is a new feature, and likely has bugs. So, if I were you, I would open a ticket with Client Care and list these concerns. If they are bugs, the sooner the engineering team sees them, the better.

I am having the same issues with the error messages. I’ve tried importing rules and the don’t populate. I’ve tried adding rules through the form and they don’t populate. The activate/deactivate doesn’t seem to do anything.

Hey Adobe, are classification sets actually on or should we still be using the old method?

😮👀

That is not good! I am getting close to having a new set of data to properly test.

However, I DEFINITELY recommend logging tickets with Client Care… this doesn’t sound good.

I have just used it since (now already) legacy classifications did not work somehow. Rules in general work, but they say “activated” and after 24 hours I could not see the result, so I went back to old interface. What I find now good, is that you can set one regex for all Classifications, totally saves time.

Summary: does not work yet, but looks good for the future.

The cleaner interface should be nice… but it definitely has to work above all else 😉

Had anyone yet logged a ticket? I should be able to test (without impacting any existing rules) this week, once I replicate the issue, I will log a ticket, but I definitely need samples before I make a ticket.

@Ronny3 My support case is being looked into. I’ll share any insights that may result.

If Adobe really plans to deactivate the old rule builder by the end of August 26, the new one should work yesterday.

Update: Just got a preliminary answer from support. They were able to replicate the issue with “testing the ruleset” resulting in some failing network calls and will discuss the next steps internally.

I’ll keep you posted.

Yes, I’m seeing the same pattern, and it looks more like a product issue than a config problem.

From what I can tell:

  • the new rule seems to become active automatically

  • if you deactivate it and save, it may switch back to active

  • testing can wrongly say “You have unsaved changes” even right after saving

  • after saving again, “Failed to test ruleset” can still appear

I could not find a clear Adobe note confirming this bug, but the feature is still quite new, so this may be a current issue in the new classification sets rules UI.

If you need a workaround right now, I’d suggest: mytxrhlive.net

  • try the rule in another browser / private window

  • remove and recreate the rule once

  • if it still fails, open an Adobe support ticket with screenshots, the regex, and the exact timestamps

  • if urgent, use the legacy classification rule builder until this is fixed

So, short answer: yes, there seem to be saving/testing issues with the new rules experience.

Good advice. I tested a Classification Set last last week, and so far it’s worked for me.. I have not tried to “deactivate”.

Also, for those having problems, were you using a “new” Classification Set? Or were you modifying one that was auto-created from your legacy rules? It’s possible that there are potential conflicts between the legacy rules and the new Classification Sets (where legacy was still active, so the Set was “reactivated” because of legacy)??

I started with a completely new rule, and my plan is to rebuild everything in Classification Sets…  since all my rules (which are for multiple suites) were separated out to a set per suite, and it lost all my naming conventions… it will be easier and faster for me to delete all the garbage and make new clean sets.
