Allow Editing Scheduled Report Builder Reports to Read the Latest Version of the File or Bring Back Publishing Lists

I have several report builder reports that got out to many stakeholders. Anytime a change is made to one of the reports, it needs to be rescheduled so that the report will send with the changes. Simply going in to edit the schedule of the report and selecting “current workbook” does not actually update the file sent to the latest file with the changes. Because of this, the schedule needs to be set up from scratch again, which can be quite tedious when the recipient list is long and each individual needs to get re-entered because publishing lists are no longer an option.

Yes, this can be annoying, I think it’s because the Report Builder changes are made locally on your computer and not on the server… I think the report needs to be re-scheduled to get the new file onto the server… but maybe something like an “update schedule from file” button to force the newest version of the Excel doc to the server with the original schedule….

Yes, totally get that. It would be great if we could, after editing the file, edit it’s schedule and thing just click this button to have the file update on the server and then click “save” and be done with it.

I’m not even able to paste in the large distro list. Are there any solutions to this yet? Having to reschedule one small change in these reports to 30+ individuals is taking up a significant amount of time.

I have come up with one wonky work around after I posted this. Open report builder in a different report than the scheduled one you’ve made changes. Then, edit the schedule for the one you want to change to have it be this random workbook you’ve just opened instead by clicking that little icon to change the file and save this change to the schedule. Then, open report builder on the report you changed and actually want to be sent, and edit the schedule back to the correct file...hope that makes sense. Not ideal, but faster than having to retype the whole distro.

Nice workaround :)
