Adobe Analytics- Adding numeric values in a dimension and creating a custom metric

Hi All,

Is it possible to add the values in a dimension and to create a custom metric in Adobe  Analytics? 

Consider the case where a dimension holds several numeric values like 3,4,5,7,1 and so on, I need to add these values and create a custom metric. Is this possible? Could anyone please help me out.
