Project Status Equates With Filter Gone

I just noticed this morning on one of my prompt based reports for our system that the Project Status Equates with filter is no longer available. Is anyone else noticing this within their instance?

I don’t see any documentation stating this change.

The Status Equates With filter is an important one, especially for organizations like yours that rely heavily on custom statuses. Here is what is happening and what you can do about it.

The Status Equates With filter allows you to include all projects whose custom status maps to a particular system status such as Current or Planning. This is what makes it so valuable since it means you do not have to manually update your filters every time a new custom status is added. If you filter by Status equals Current instead, you have to manually select every custom status individually, which is harder to maintain.

When it comes to why it may have disappeared, Workfront has been rolling out updates to the reporting and filtering experience, and in some cases certain filter fields like Status Equates With can become hidden in the updated filter builder UI. This is a known concern and there have been internal discussions around it.

The good news is that you can still use this filter through Text Mode even if it is not showing in the UI. Here is how to do it:

Go to your report filter editor, switch to Text Mode, and enter the following:

                  statusEquatesWith=CUR
                  statusEquatesWith_Mod=in

You can replace CUR with the system status key you want to match, such as PLN for Planning or CPL for Complete. This should restore the intended filtering behavior even if the UI option is not visible.

It is also worth checking your status configuration if you use group-level custom statuses. Make sure all statuses are properly mapped and not hidden or misconfigured at the group level, as that can sometimes affect filter visibility.

I’m just seeing this now too.  It has made a mess of a LOAD of my projects.  Guess I should open a ticket?

Hi @ConnorO2  - I wanted to see if you got any resolve to this. I don’t currently have access to submit tickets and wondering if it is a bug or intentional. I Work at an agency and have seen it gone in a couple instances I work in. Thanks!

Well… I figured that we could still use Text Mode, but my filters on some of the reports are so complex that I really, really don’t want to have to rely on doing the whole thing in text mode.

I had opened a ticket the other day about this and I was to understand that it is still being worked.  I really need this to be available in the friendly UI.  We’ll see what they tell me.

Thanks for sharing!
