ServicePack 6.3.3 says it supports static thumbnails for EPS files - how to config? jimp38732070 - Adobe Experience Manager Assets
The 6.3.3 service pack just released in Sept. says it now supports static image thumbnails for eps files, but nowhere references how you get it to do that. Just ingesting an eps file after installing 6.3.3 does not generate a thumbnail image for them.Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks,Jim P

Is there any method to assign an image as the rendition for an archive (zip) file? jimp38732070 - Adobe Experience Manager Assets
The thumbnail for a zip file (archive) appears to be fixed. Is there any proven way to use an image as a thumbnail rendition for a zip file? Adding renditions to other formats (in general) works fine but with a zip file it just ignores any attempt to associate an image as the thumbnail for a zip asset. Thanks,Jim P

Re: AEM assets 6.3 . Is there an entry for last version date? jimp38732070 - Adobe Experience Manager Assets
There does not appear to be a system generated field for this. We created one and auto set it when a new version of an asset is published.

AEM assets 6.3 . Is there an entry for last version date? jimp38732070 - Adobe Experience Manager Assets
Date created is the date of first ingest. Last Modified is the date anything was modified (tags etc.). I'd like to present the date the last time a physical file was uploaded to replace the previous file as a new version. Is that available? Thanks!Jim P

Re: AEM 6.3 IE11 support jimp38732070 - Adobe Experience Manager
This only happens with specific mime types, and only when the dispatcher is being utilized. Going direct to the publish instance does not have any issue, got to be a dispatcher setting. For example, this file on IE11 on Windows 7 works fine:https://digitalhubshare.symantec.com/content/dam/aem-docs/digitalhub_enterprise_metadata.xls This file just dumps the file to the screen with IE11, works fine on FF and Chromehttps://digitalhubshare.symantec.com/content/dam/aem-docs/Player_info_ver-1-1.xlsxJim...

Asset Share pages and IE11 jimp38732070 - Adobe Experience Manager Assets
We have some asset share pages that worked on all browsers until about 4 weeks ago. Only with IE11, it is not loading CSS correctly, gives the mis-matched mime type error in browser console (F12), but it's not mime types. On Chrome and Firefox it looks fine, but you should be able to double-click on a thumbnail and it opens up a preview tab with more into on the asset. Going direct to publish works, going through dispatcher it does not. I recall we ran into this when we did the upgrade to 6.3 an...

What is the official word on asset share pages and/or asset share ?? jimp38732070 - Adobe Experience Manager Assets
This page: Creating and Configuring Asset Share and Asset Editor pages says this: Note:Asset Share is not available anymore, but a new reference implementation is available as open source project on Package Share. Is this in reference to the "share asset" function here: Asset link sharing or is it referencing asset share pages? The Package Share link referenced in the "Note" points to the old Geometrixx sample sites files. Both Asset link Share and Asset Share pages work on our 6.3 instance and a...

Re: Metadata-only asset creation jimp38732070 - Adobe Experience Manager Assets
That appears to need to reference a file though. Asset is created by AssetManager and can be retrieved either via AssetManager or by adapting a asset Resource to an Asset. eg: // to create an asset AssetManager assetManager = resolver.adaptTo(AssetManager.class); Asset newAsset = assetManager.createAsset("/path/to/asset/document.pdf"); I'm thinking the system can't create an asset record without a file object to refer to. I can accomplish what I need to do by creating a small file with the known...

Metadata-only asset creation jimp38732070 - Adobe Experience Manager Assets
Can I create an metadata-only asset? Basically an asset record with metadata, but no asset object exists yet. Then later we update that record/asset with the actual file. The use case is I'd like to create asset records before that actual finished good asset is ready. That way I have an AssetID of the asset before there is an asset. Re: Unable to choose 'Open' for Excel DAM assets in IE 11 jimp38732070 - Adobe Experience Manager Assets
Something you might try on 6.2. On the dispatcher, set it to NOT cache that mime-type. We had some issues with certain mime-types and IE11 where we needed to disable cache for save/open function to properly launch. We have since upgraded to 6.3.Jim P

Re: Can I get a common schema across Classic and Touch? jimp38732070 - Adobe Experience Manager Assets
I can see whats happening here. Since the assets are from different folders, if you try and select them and then select "Properties" to do a bulk edit to those files, the system pulls the "default" schema for that. If I make the "default" schema look like our special one for Enterprise, it shows all those fields when you do the bulk edit, but that will be a problem if the "default" schema is the same as the Enterprise one going forward I would think. An I right there, its referencing the default ...

Re: Can I get a common schema across Classic and Touch? jimp38732070 - Adobe Experience Manager Assets
Thanks Scott. This may be me using incorrect terminology. The bulk edit I was referring to is different than the one you were pointing to.If I select two files in the same directory and then go up to the Nav and select Properties, I get this screen (I would call this a bulk edit) Notice the fields in the schema. If I select one file from the same directory above (datasheets), and one file from a different directory (from a search result) and select Properties from the Nav bar, I get this screen....

Re: Can I get a common schema across Classic and Touch? jimp38732070 - Adobe Experience Manager Assets
Since all the assets were ingested via Touch UI and utilize a highly expanded schema, any bulk edits need to be able to edit any field in that schema. When assets are in different folders (or have different profiles? I don't know which), I can't do a bulk edit and use that expanded schema, I'm limited to the little default schema in classic. Thanks,Jim P

Can I get a common schema across Classic and Touch? jimp38732070 - Adobe Experience Manager Assets
This is what drove this question. The use case is that I have two folders that are sub-folders to a top folder. The top folder has a specific schema that was created and applied via touch UI so the two sub-folders inherit that schema. Each sub-folder has a metadata profile applied to them that is unique to each sub-folder.If I select multiple assets in ONE folder and select properties to bulk edit, all is well and the edit utilizes the applied schema. If I select multiple assets from both sub-fold...

Version management - classic vs Touch - Assets 6.3 jimp38732070 - Adobe Experience Manager Assets
When in classic UI and asset properties open for a particular asset, there is a "version" tab on the far right where I can easily enter version info that may be specific to us. For example, a vendor makes an update to the asset and Product Marketing has deemed this new version, ver3A. I can manually enter that data into the version tab. While AEM may relate to that version as version 1.1, the label in the version data for that asset says ver3A so it is easily identifiable. We really try to disco...

That would work. 99% of the Authors would never look to any other method than a menu selection. We just don't want them creating hundreds of individual folders to suit their tastes. This will help much. Thanks!

Re: AEM Assets 6.3 Search form default search when loaded jimp38732070 - Adobe Experience Manager Assets
Wow, really? So if I select the search filter drop-down at the root level, it will load thumbnails for all assets? I know I saw a doc that showed a checkbox that said 'search current directory" or something like that but i can't locate that doc now. So there is no simple option to limit initial search scope? Thanks Scott.jim P

AEM Assets 6.3 Search form default search when loaded jimp38732070 - Adobe Experience Manager Assets
When I select the bring up the assets search rail by selecting the "filter" option, it immediately lists all assets from that directory and sub-directories by default. Selecting an asset type or tag from the predicate list then narrows down the assets displayed, but can I limit (or halt) the initial display of all assets when that search rail for is loaded? I'd rather it not search at all until the user selects a predicate or enters a full-text search....just load the form. Is that possible?Than...
