My client recently switched over to heartbeat video tracking, however, there was not documentation regarding no the existing parameters would translate into heartbeat or the types of server calls, the number of server calls, the parameters inside the server call. If one is testing for validation what are you testing with there's no expected behavior/values?

Does Adobe have a list of default parameters tracked on the mobile SDK 4.0 implementation? I'm doing a validation exercise using Charles proxy and wanted filter out any default variables. Also, do you have any helpful hints on how to easily validate using the new contextual format? The variables are nested in Charles, therefore, makes it difficult to validate. Thanks!

For mobile SDK 4.0 implementation, is there a way to have Charles Proxy have the full contextual variable listed under one row versus the nested format?

Another method to get a ball park estimate is to filter out iOS, Android, and Windows operating systems. These cover majority of the current smartphone market.

Yes, the proxy setting were updated. Still no luck with the Omniture server calls. I see the line items for the Omniture request in Charles, but they're not what I'm expecting.

The Charles Proxy for Mobile Web shows an abnormal server call. See attachment. If it safe to assume we have a problem tracking this platform based on the results from the Omniture server call? Please advise.

Hi Brian,Thanks for the quick response. Unfortunately, I'm not able to add the segments using the latest version of Report Builder. After clicking on "add", it tries to open an Internet Explorer browser which becomes an error page. Please advise.-Robert

Thanks for the clarification. I just have one more follow-up question. On the second paragraph, you mentioned one image request go out per page load. I interpret this as one Omniture tracking URL. If the company uses both secured and non-secured tracking URLs, you should send the secured when they're in that environment and when they come outside that environment, switch them back to non-secured. You have never have instances where both occur at the same image request. Please advise.-Robert

Thanks for the quick response. We're not sending data into multiple reporting suites. Instead, it goes into the same reporting suite. And for further clarification, it's not multiple server calls. The implementation has some request going into smetrics.domain.com while others go to metrics.domain.com. Please advise.

is there any reason why an implementation would have multiple server call URLs? For example, one that begins with metrics.domain.com and another with smetrics.domain.com. I'm thinking maybe it had to do with secure versus unsecure requests, however, from a validation perspective, this really sucks. It adds an additional layer of complexity and time to testing.

We recently upgraded our implementation on a mobile device and saw the parameters for custom variables had changed. For events, the parameter now appears to be action. Also wasn't sure how you would differentiate a sProp or eVar that had the same parameter label.

I was wondering if the previous page parameter has any impact in reporting if they are passed under the link type request. I already know this doesn't impact pages reporting but not sure with this. The current implementation passes this parameter on both the page and click request which may potentially chase inflated activity.

Hire an analytics professional. You probably wouldn't want to spend the cash for anenterprise level solution like Adobe Analytics so I would recommend a free solution like Google Analytics.

This is a good example of what happens when you have questionable implementation. It's hard to make sense in reporting from something that doesn't make sense from the implementation perspective.

As the other post mentioned, it's not recommended to use sprop to get details on events. The preferred method of looking at drivers to events are evars. The rationale behind this is the persistent cookie. You would want to look at all evars that may have influenced the conversion event. Whereas, the sprop (if part of the image request) will only provide details at that snapshot.

I believe it's in the report suite level. I would love to help you further but I'm currently not an admin at the company where I consult. If you're still having trouble and you're a supported user, I recommend you reach out to client care. Best of luck.

For the the query string parameter to get picked up in the campaigns report, you will need to set this up in the admin console. You will need to be an admin for this. Here's an example for the campaign tracking:https://marketing.adobe.com/resources/help/en_US/reference/processing_rules_populate_campaign_ID.html

I believe you will see the query string parameters in the pages report only if you use the default settings which uses the URL structure. This happens when you don't specific the pagename value. The disadvantage is that you may not have the URL structured in a way that meaningful for comparison and the character limitation (100 characters). It will truncate anything that exceeds it. The preferred method of tracking is to label the page and use campaign tracking for the query string activity.

Thanks for the response and making the point that you wouldn't want to compromise user engagement tracking but I don't think this is the case here. Just reviewing the current implementation and looking to make the tracking more efficient from a cost perspective.

Is there a way to wrap multiple request into one Omniture call if they don't have any overlapping custom variables? For examples, we have a call for the link, which is passing only two variables and another for the destination page. I personally think it's a waste to be sending these types of request so we either rethink if we want to track this customer behavior or find a better method of tracking without the adding in the extra request resulting in millions of Omniture calls. This can potentia...
