Thank you - are there plans for it to be supported in 6.5 or a future version of AEM? I have been told 6.5 might be more friendly to containers, but have not heard anything substantial.

Does that mean it's still there as an option but not "officially" supported, or that the documentation is out of date?

Hello,I am looking for info on whether OAK's CompositeNodeStore is available in AEM yet. I would like to do a POC of running AEM in Containers / Docker for a blue/green deployment similar to what was presented at AdaptTo() 2017 and found questions answered last year with a consensus that Oak 1.8 was required and not available in AEM 6.3. I am currently migrating from AEM 6.2 to AEM 6.4.3 with Oak 1.8.9 - is CompositeNodeStore available yet? And is there any current documentation on that option?T...

Hello all,I am building a new infrastructure stack with new / upgraded host VMs. What are your thoughts on migrating AEM to the new servers? I see 3 options:Copy/paste or clone the instance from one server to the otherThis would be the easiest and quickest optionAny issues we have with the instance (stability, corruption, etc) will persistBuild new / clean AEM instances, and use packages to migrate content between the two stacksThis would ensure there are no lingering issues or questions from pr...

Yeah, this definitely lies outside AEM. I would suggest you use log rotation, with an automated custom script to compact / archive an older file daily. Cron jobs would help if you're on linux, but then you also probably wouldn't use .zip. Personally, our logs rotate and only the last 5 days are on the server. We do use Loginsight as a log aggregation tool though - it has a java agent that forwards log entries to the central loginsight server automatically, and persists the logs / data for future...

Hello,My users would like to be able to specify a large (50+) list of pages to be activated and activate them all as a bulk job rather than manually activating one by one when they are ready to publish them all. These are specific pages, not entire trees. I've found that the "Bulk Workflow Manager" in ACS Commons will let you specify this list and specify a workflow. The default "request for activation" workflow doesn't work because a) the users don't normally request activation, they just do it...

Thanks Sandeep, that actually really helps. It looks like we've only had 80 unique users in the last week, and the highest was 58 in one day. It's safe to say we're under the 100 concurrent user threshold. We'll have to look into better ways to watch concurrent users.

Hello all,We have been investigating the possibility of using MongoMK for our Author instances, and have decided to continue using TarMK until we absolutely have to switch. One of the suggested Mongo requirements is if you get above 100 concurrent authors. How can you monitor the number of concurrent authors?Thank you,Andrew

Hi there,You'll want to double check your particular instance, but on every instance I've worked with past 6.0 the admin user shows up in a different place. So for your specific error, it looks like you excluded the admin user in the source instance, but it's trying to overwrite it on the destination instance. Find the admin user on the new instance, and add that path to the exclusions too - that might help. I would suggest excluding the 'system' user folder too, since 6.0 and 6.2 have lots of c...

Can you try restarting the instance? Have you checked the normal things like caps lock, pasting an extra space after the username or password, etc. If you end up needing to reset the password you could try to package the admin user account from another instance (/home/users/whatever), then put that package in a /crx-quickstart/install folder on the local filesystem. The instance will pick it up and install it automatically.

Hello,To confirm, all your languages are using the same custom blueprint, or each language has its own blueprint? If everything is using the same blueprint but one page in particular isn't working, I would suggest trying to re-create that language in a local environment. If that doesn't fix it, try poking around in the MSM control panel to see what the status of that language is. You might need to "unskip" it, or force a roll out, or something else, but it should at least tell you the status. Yo...

Hello,We also had similar issues going from 6.1 to 6.2. The issue was with some of our custom components / views, and the dev team had to update their code package to be compatible. Only pages using specific components or views had the issue. I would recommend turning on additional logging if the existing logs don't have enough detail to know which component / view is causing the issue, or you can't narrow it down otherwise. Andrew

Hello all,I am Andrew, and have been an AEM System Administrator at Dell / Dell EMC for nearly 2 years, with 12 years of general IT experience before that. In my non-working hours I am pursuing a Master's degree in Information Systems, and haven't had much more free time since starting that. I've been semi active in the AEM Communities for a while now. Thank you,Andrew

Last time I had issues like that, they had me delete the index, run a consistency check to find the last good revision, edit the journal.log to revert the repository to that revision, then run compaction again. You'll probably want to open an Adobe ticket.

Hello,It's talking about actual diskspace on your local filesystem. Your repository is nearly 1 TB, and there is only 72 GB of free disk space. Oak run needs disk space to work with as part of the compaction - I don't remember exact numbers, but I think you need at least 10% or 20% of your repository size of free disk space or it won't even run. I hope that helps,Andrew

Thanks - there's a lot of good stuff there, but that's the Adobe documentation I've read. I'm hoping to hear some perspectives from outside Adobe, even if issues found have been later added to Adobe's documentation.

Hello everyone,I am a CMS Administrator looking at moving our large enterprise implementation of AEM 6.1 to AEM 6.2 with MongoDB for Author servers. To any other organizations who have implemented Mongo - how did that go? Did you encounter any issues? Are there any performance concerns in your live environment? What should we 'watch out' for?I am looking for any perspectives besides Adobe's documentation.

That should also work, so long as the package includes the one folder as empty and the other with the file, and the file is the same across instances

You can do pretty much anything with curl commands. I'm not aware of one for renaming a file, but you could copy it to a new place and then delete the node. Check out https://gist.github.com/sergeimuller/2916697

That's one option - the trouble is some groups will still need to replicate pages, while others we need to prevent accidental publishing

Hello all,The scenario is that a major announcement will be posted on an AEM website soon. Authors need to be able to edit and roll out specific pages on Author, but should not activate them until a specific date/time. There is concern that authors may accidentally activate those pages. How do other companies / groups handle this situation in AEM?I've considered removing permission for users to activate that specific page, but that gets cumbersome when the number of pages and live copies increase...

Hi Jake,Like Ankur said, the easy way to add instances is to copy/paste the whole directory and adjust things as necessary. Keep in mind that adding instances this way would not keep things up to date when one instance updates something, unless you've got something to share the repository (Mongo, shared Datastore, etc). If you're cloning Publish instances it helps to create a new replication agent for the new instance before making the copy, so anything activated while you're setting things up w...

That is a good idea, and should help. Can you comment on how to restrict users from being able to see/modify the LDAP config/password in the following places (or anywhere else it might be visible)?JCR node using "crx/de” Using OSGi configMgr Package ManagerI'm thinking denying read permission to the node would hide it in crx/de, but I'm not sure about the others

Hello,I have configured LDAP authentication in AEM 6.1 by creating an OSGI config directly in /system/console/configMgr. In order to implement that without manually doing it in the console, I would have to create a config in our code base under config.author. However, this would mean including the password for the bind account in our code base, exposing it to a large number of developers and other staff. Is there a better way to do it in AEM 6.x? I've read that versions earlier than 6.0 could us...

Hi Ratna, I think we're mixing two things - the "admin" user account and the "Administrators" group. I have tried adding users to the "Administrators" group as well as an author group, but they were unable to unlock pages locked by other users (most recently yesterday). I have only had success with the "admin" user account, not the "Administrators" group. Thanks,Andrew

Hello all,I have seen many forum posts and documentation links saying locked pages can only be unlocked by the author who locked it or the "admin" account, including [1] below. As the platform scales up, it becomes increasingly likely that users will forget to unlock pages and the "admin" has to step in. How do other companies handle unlocking pages in AEM as things scale? To me, there are three obvious options: Get more admins (cost concerns), share the "admin" password with additional people s...
