Hi Mayank, When you mention the need for a server, do you mean an AEM server? Or, would I be able to use my shared hosting (Windows) server hosted at GoDaddy to set up previewing of HTML forms?

AEM Forms Designer 6.4 HTML Preview

I have AEM Forms Designer 6.4 standalone application installed on my Windows 10 computer. Since there is no server, can I configure server settings options to preview a form in a browser on my computer? Is this possible? Or do I need to have an available server set-up to preview a form as HTML? Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks, Sid, for this explanation. Further about it here: Re: How do I open a pdf in iOS 8.4? I keep getting a message saying get the latest version of Adobe. I just got the app.…So, for now, it looks like I won't be able to get my dynamic PDF forms viewed/completed in mobile browsers.

Although I have checked fast web view in an ES4 Designer (dynamic PDF) form, when I upload to my server and view in FF or Chrome using an Android device, it does not display online (see below: works OK when using a Windows desktop). It asks to download the PDF form and tries to open it in latest Acrobat Reader DC, but then shows an error when trying to open and view: "Please wait...If this message is not eventually replaced by the proper contents..."I also used Google Drive to download a copy of ...

Hi,While I posted a new discussion about Designer 10 (just upgraded from Designer ES2), in the Adobe ADEP forum, I am adding the link here in the hope that it may create additional discussion and solutions. The issue probably revolves around how to correctly set up and use certificates for XML form data encryption/decryption.Here's the link: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4044212#4044212Happy Holidays!Regards, saratogacoach

Thanks again, Srini. The hierarchy renaming is much better. I suspect that it is very important to build a form like this on a "solid foundation" using correct hierarchy and naming.Regards, saratogacoach

Hi Srini,Thank you for your reply and suggestions. Unfortunately, as a beginner, I'm not sure where to even place the script: change event for TextField1 on page1, or a different event on a different page? A sample would be to script so that user enetered first name in TextField1 on page 1 populates TextField2 on page 2.Not sure how to do this.Regards, saratogacoach

Hi,For a complex form project, I am first trying to create a basic "proof of concept" form: in the complex project, the user will enter data in several TextFields and depending on what is entered, this will make visible further TextFields to be completed or TextFields which will need to be populated with the data that the user enters. But as a novice using Designer ES2, I need to see if I can first create some basic functionality in a "proof of concept" form. First: to be able to set up TextField...

Hi Paul,Thank you for the sample, whcih clarifies some issues. The function and its formula is applied to 4 scores (totalscore5-8) from a survey. Then, after further processing, the Dprime1 and Dprime2 are hopefully returned. When I try the new version, I am getting NaN as a return, when the return (based on my using hard-coded data for the testing) should be a number like 2.7564.So, something is not yet working in the use of the function. But, I'll 'play around' with the script, see if I can get ...

Hi Niall,Yes, your form works perfectly. On my site, it displays properly. Downloaded to my desktop, it shows the warning. So, I tried to use the script in my form's Form1 docready, but without success.I am posting a draft version of the form at:http://www.eLearningprojects.com/SRQ70.pdfif you would like to take a look in Designer. I suspect another pair of eyes make spot the mistake (s) that I keep overlooking. Thanks for your help.Kind Regards,

Hi Niall,Thanks for your help. When I used a basic test form, the entire JS and rectangle did work successfully: covered on the desktop (rectangle covered form contents) and displayed properly online (have not been testing a an eLearning module; just using my website;but this is OK since the eLearning module will likely only use a button to launch the PDF in a separate window;so this replicates that experience). So, the problem seems to be in my adding the script tothe more complex, multi-page act...

Hi Niall,Interestingly, when I tried to use the same JS in the actual form (not a cut-down test form), I could not get it to work. The actual form is 5 pages, each with a subform. Placing a rectangle over each page, plus writing the JS in the docready for either the page or subform1, did not work the same as when used in the test form.Ugh! Not sure what to try next.Kind Regards, saratogacoach

OK, Niall. If you think of the way to script this, please let me know. So far, the covering rectangle is a good workaround.I had re-thought using the eLearning software for creating this quiz form, but the security in Designer/Acrobat is important since the data collected is health-sensitive and needs to be kept private. Using password encryption achieves this at atleast AES 128 bit (seems in Designer 128 is max whereas in regular Acrobat Pro 9, it's 256? 128 is OK.)Kind Regards, saratogacoach

Hi Niall,My quote for the day: "never say never."I kept at it trying to get the covering rectangle, that you suggested, to work and finally did as long as the 'display in browser' view is enabled for the PDF.I think the difficulty with not using the 'display in browser' option is that the PDF gets downloaded into a cache on the user's computer and then displayed in the desktop's Reader. The cache's file path will be different from website's PDF URL path that is hardcoded into the JS, so the chec...

Hi Niall,Tried and tried for hours to get this working, rectangle as well. No joy.Since I can accomplish this using a "referrer" script first shown at the beginning of this post above (using JS in the HTML page), I think I will need to use a form generated in HTML (I have a program that can do this). Then I can simply add a little JS to that web page, and deter unauthorized use.Thank you for all of your help.Kind Regards, saratogacoach

Oops,I had only tried the PDF form on the desktop, where this script worked. When I tried it on my web site, either viewing using the web page embedded Reader or the desktop Reader, it did not close if the URL string was incorrect. The alert warning displayed, but the PDF stayed open.Since "Close" did not work on the site, not sure if there is any other command that can close the PDF if the URL string is incorrect. Hi,Thank you for your reply. Yes, unfortunately DRM solutions are cost prohibitive for small eLearning developers like me who primarily give the materials away free as a community service. Restricting copying or unauthorized use for these health-related eLearning materials is mainly to protect people from using them without sufficient informing of cautions for their use.I wonder if there is a way to use the JS document.referrer in a PDF to check if the referring web page (in this case the eLearn...

Hi,Trying to solve the perennial problem for small developers, in my case eLearning, to provide some way to protect unauthorized use of a PDF form via password restriction.
