Re: "Modify" permission not inherited from folder to asset - Adobe Experience Manager 08-02-2017
You can try to set permission with regex globbing pattern on the JCR node - on any node in the hierarchy.

Re: AEM not responding to cURL commands - Adobe Experience Manager 23-01-2017
If you are able to view AEM pages in the browser, curl commands should also work. In case your AEM servers are behind a firewall, the firewall might block requests to AEM through curl and allow only browser requests. if you have access the AEM servers, try running curl directly on the server pointing to localhost url.

Re: URL management - AEM vs mod_rewrites - Adobe Experience Manager 28-11-2016
AEM provides an easy way to map url's (setting vanity url's or page alias can be done by business authors themselves) and you don't need a server bounce to make this mapping effective. This can be made use of when the page on which its applied does not get modified in the course of its lifetime. Say a campaign page. You design the final page, assign a short vanity path & publish it. It lives for sometime and is orphaned & deleted when a new campaign comes along for which a new page is designed an...

Re: URL management - AEM vs mod_rewrites - Adobe Experience Manager 26-11-2016
Use mod_rewrites as much as possible. Main problem in this area is the connect between AEM & Dispatcher caching.Cache flush on page activation is triggered only to the full AEM url & not to vanity or mapped path. Dispatcher caches content at the path it requested AEM with. If these 2 differ (and it would if you do url mapping of vanity url in AEM), cache flushing does not happen properly.

Re: How do we capture the events in publisher for the activation - Adobe Experience Manager 12-10-2016
You can try relay replication. A publisher can be configured to relay replicate the content it received on activation from author. One aspect to take care is typically you would be having multiple publishers. You would have to designate one and configure it for relay replication as otherwise every publisher would be replicating further which is undesirable. This one publisher would then be an odd man out in your publisher farm, and would have to be taken care of when you run the maintenance acti...

Re: List out all the revision which are available in tar file - Adobe Experience Manager 12-10-2016
Check the oak run version you are using. The check mode was introduced in later versions of oak run tool.

Re: Restore the Content Overridden from the other package - Adobe Experience Manager 29-08-2016
One option is to edit the journal.log by deleting the last few entries to take the repository to a previous state. This is a crude way of restoring and not sure if Adobe supports this approach. Take your Adobe support advice before trying this. For a try, you can take a copy of your AEM and try. Note, the journal.log does not provide any useful input for you to identify what updates have happened when. Its just a running sequence of unique id's. Note that this rolls back the complete repository ...

Re: Image URLs - Adobe Experience Manager 29-08-2016
Think the key difference is with reusing the same asset in other pages / sites.Images maintained under /content/dam/ can be reused across multiple pages. Typically these image assets is maintained by separate team. Also only the images under /content/dam/ show up on the damadmin console for managing. Images under the page path are typically local to the page and are not intended to be reused in other pages.

Re: AEM Backup Notifications - Adobe Experience Manager 07-07-2016
When the backup starts, AEM creates an empty file backupInProgress.txt at the root of the backup directory and removes it when the backup is complete. The presence of this file indicate backup is in progress and its absence indicate backup has been completed. You could use this for your scripting.

Re: Dispatcher flush(caching) - Adobe Experience Manager 05-07-2016
The enableTTL configuration available in the dispatcher configuration works based on the cache control response header for the pages served. This can be used if the application is setting the correct header values for page expiry. If the application is not setting the cache control headers, we can use acs commons plugin at [1] to set the headers based on URL pattern[1] https://adobe-consulting-services.github.io/acs-aem-commons/features/dispatcher-ttl.html
