Re: New feature for existing Forms -- how to use? - Workfront 15-04-2022
Hi Chloe - thank you for this. I also want to consolidate my forms as we have tons of duplicates. A couple of questions about what you've done: So you are just deactivating the duplicate form, not deleting it?Did you confirm that data on previous issues (the ones having the old form) was still there and just appearing in the new form? Or are you just making the change on a go-forward basis? For anyone - if you have information on how to ensure data transfers to the original form (now configured ...

Provide a Link to Current Timesheet in the New Experience - Workfront 16-06-2021
In Classic, when you click timesheets, you are always taken to your Current timesheet but in the new experience you are always taken to a list of timesheets. The list is fine and I like that it makes your timesheets more visible, but customers want a link to their current timesheet like they had in Classic. The only workaround is for them to pin their current timesheet every single week, or make the extra click from the list. Providing a link that always opens their current timesheet seems like ...

Re: Grant project access, but limit tasks users can see - Workfront 14-04-2021
We have done this on a few occasions. Our process was to create the project, then disable inherited permissions, then create the tasks. Each task must then also have inherited permissions disabled to ensure someone doesn't accidentally get access. Lastly, the desired people are shared to the appropriate tasks. As you can see it is a process, and this is also why it has not been done often. Workfront is designed for sharing, not restricting, so what you are looking to do is difficult. In our scen...

Re: How do you track non-project related time to roll up into Workload balancer such as weekly meetings? - Workfront 02-04-2021
Hi Janine, Sorry I am late to the party here! We have "Admin" Projects for each major organizational unit. They have a single task per user that have start/end dates covering the entire year (we decided on calendar, could have easily used fiscal). We then assign planned admin hours to that task for each person. Teams generally have a standard of what they expect for admin time for their members. These tasks then show up on the timesheet and time can be logged. This also gives you the option to m...

Feedback on Creating Basic Reports - All 4 Sections; Creating a Calendar; Creating a Dashboard; Sharing Reports & Report Settings - Workfront Archived Groups 17-03-2021
Sorry, this is going to be a little long! You've been warned... Some technical, detailed, feedback was included in survey monkey and not here. Creating basic reports:First, this learning path can and should be broken up into 4 separate ones to avoid that 1.5 hour time estimate.Very good overall and definitely basic. This is reporting for beginners. I could use section 1, right now, as is. But would move Edit Report here from later section.Section 2 is good, relevant to a large audience.Section 3...

Activity Booklet - Workfront Archived Groups 04-02-2021
After the second course, I dug into the activity booklet and immediately kept going to additional activities, that were not about Groupings. I think all the activities are great - but do we risk confusion with all the activities in a single booklet? Should there be a "Success - you've completed the Grouping (or whichever) activity, move on to the next learning module" type statement? Basically STOP now and go watch another video. Or is it intentional, to have a full "basic report creation" class...

Re: Is there a better way to share issues and projects within teams than manually sharing? - Workfront 19-01-2021
Hi Ryan, We do two things that have worked very well in our environment. One has to do with Access Levels and the other with Templates. In all of our access levels, when someone creates a project, their manager is automatically given Manage access to that project and their company is given View access. This ensures that someone besides the sys admin can manage the project and that it has visibility. In our case, "company" is our IT department. This is done with the Set Sharing Defaults link unde...

Re: Instead of manually entering in fixed dates for a task, is there a way to program a task use specific fixed dates from a custom form? - Workfront 19-01-2021
Hi Rebecca, We have a template like this for a very strict release process we've got. When using this template, the user just has to input the predetermined release date as the completion date for the project and all of the task dates get set as per very specific guidelines. This is done with predecessors (per a previous comment), durations and task constraints, as well as some placeholder tasks. It took quite a bit of effort to get things tweaked just right in our case, but once we got it, it w...

Re: Sticky Task List Filter View Group - Workfront 25-09-2020
Yes please!!! I vote yes to default Filters Views and Groupings per Project! This should be a VERY easy fix - adding a default filter, view and grouping to a project. We use custom data extensively and for many projects there are custom views that we need to use, but only on that project. It is frustrating to always have to change the view - when it could just stick. And more frustrating to open a completely unrelated project to a bunch of blank fields because the unrelated view has followed you.
