Also, we reported to Enterprise Support, issues with App not opening content on some Android Tablets. It works on all phones we tried, and on some larger (10") tablets, but not on the smaller 7" tablets.

Thanks Darrin. Yes, we have been working in that fashion for a while. However, as you can imagine, it is a lot of extra work and we have to keep the original "long" InDesign doc in tact for editing and corrections and a Scrolling frame doc for creating the .article. A simple, smooth scrolling page is really the best way to go.Grant

Line Breaks in Smooth Scrolling iPad layouts

This issue has been reported to Adobe Gold (Enterprise) Support. They confirm the issue and they can repeat it. They tell me it is sent to engineering, but nothing seems to result. It was reported in May but there is still now resolution. It is urgent. The problem: When you build a smooth scrolling article for iPhone and AEM translates it for an iPad, a white break line appears where a fixed folio size ends (1136, 1332 pixel location, etc.), This is only when using a 1 top-level collection where ...

Tool to import .article to Content

We have several large projects that would save hours of time if we could import .article files to a Project Content. We do and continue to use the Migrate from DPS feature, but have found that many migrations result in problems with the Metadata and issues with updating Articles once they are in AEM. I have been told this is on the development track for almost 2 years now. I am positive that this feature would be beneficial to the entire community. Has anyone attempted a script to do this? I hav...

Hey AEM Guru's - Has this been worked on at all in the last 18 months? We really need to have an import for .articles and a sidecar file. The current manual method is very slow and clunky. Has anyone written a script that might work? With a large publication or catalog, it takes hours to load content, previously in DPS it took minutes. Thanks!Grant

Tommy - Yes, this happened to me as well. To solve the problem, I had to delete all previous Xcode files, download a fresh copy (takes a bit of time). Then rebuild the App in AEM. Make sure that you also delete the previous Application Loader and use the new one that comes with the new version of Xcode. I was able to upload .ipa with no errors.

We are looking for information on the ability to access the AEM Mobile Sign-In (WebView) via a script from another webpage. We want to have authentication from a website transfer to authenticating in the WebView. We are trying to avoid multiple authentications from the user. Thanks!Grant Fritch

I discussed this several months ago with several Adobe folks at Adobe MAX. The workflow for adding a large number of articles is oppressive! What we have done for now is to build them in DPS and then Migrate to AEM. The issue then is that most of the meta data entered in DPS is not passed on to AEM. Also have requested the ability to pass on metadata from DPS to AEM... silence.

Terry - Depending on the size of your organization/account, I may have an answer to your question. For former DPS Pro accounts, Adobe has licensed Walsworth to provide a path to migration from DPS to AEM Mobile. If you are not getting traction from Adobe Sales, it could be that their focus has been on larger accounts with greater sales potential. The medium and smaller accounts are being handled by my company. If you wish to discuss, please contact me at: grant.fritch@walsworth.com. We have been...

Agree with Chris and David. It still surprises me on this issue. As Adobe advertises AEM Mobile as the benchmark enterprise solution, there are many items missing that were available for the last 3 years with DPS. It has been made clear that DPS is ending and developing in it is a dead end street. We need these ASAP. Hiding the 'Sign-in" function is a serious problem for users. That, and the ability to make a subscription purchase needs to be upfront in the Browse page

Good points Colin - I basically agree with the premise that the App is better. However, that may not be what the average consumer of our content expects. Maybe in the past. Today, it is the assumption that web content is universal on all devices, desktop and mobile. I understand the initial intent of WebView by Adobe as a tool to expand Social Sharing content. I think it is used differently by consumers than what the original intent was. I have only tested the the new WebView in Beta. I look for...

Good points David. I would add to that list a couple of things...1. When migrating content, bring over existing metadata from Folio Producer Console such as Folio Number, Publication Date, Article Kicker. Having so many 'loose' items in content makes it unwieldy when you have lots of content to migrate.2.Ability to search by previous metadata from Folio Producer3. Ability to determine what columns show in the content and the ability to sort by clicking on the header rather than doing a searchI s...

I have built and provisioned many Apps. This morning I am having trouble getting a signed .ipa to load to devices. Here is what is different about this story. Yesterday, I built a Project and App and after a few hours of working on it, we decided to make it with dual device navigation. Because you can not change that in the Project, I had to start over from scratch. I used the same Link Reference in both projects. I am using the exact same certificate and provisioning that I used when I built th...

Article 'linking' from InDesign

One important issue has come up with managing Article content. In the process of building App content, there are sometimes dozens or hundreds of revisions to the InDesign document. With the legacy DPS these updates were easy simply "update" and the content that was edited in InDesign was now in the folio. With having to load each .article, everything there is a design revision, the time required to manage these change is a very serious issue. Are there plans to somehow link the InDesign page wit...

We really like 2015 and the great flexibility. If you have ever tried to create Custom Storefront/Libraries you know what this means. The legacy DPS was quick and easy. While the flexibility is beautiful, there is a price to pay. The first App we have built has taken us 20x as long and is still exactly the way we want it. If Adobe had some standard templates to work with, that would enhance the user experience dramatically. We create many Apps for our customers, and it will be a challenge time-w...
