Thanks, creating a report that compares "counts as revenue" hours vs other hours will meet this user's need, so that's good enough. 

I found a characteristic for hours outside of "type" called "count as revenue" so I'm using that. However, if there is a way to define hour types where specific types can full under an umbrella type, I would still appreciate the information. Thanks.

Thanks, Madalyn. I'll just add that the form ID isn't displayed in the form designer (at least, not that I could find) but you can add a view to the Set Up -> Forms page to get it.
