Media and File Upload Guidelines

Sharing images, screenshots, and files can make your posts clearer and more helpful—but it’s important to do so responsibly. These guidelines will help you keep uploading safe, relevant, and accessible for everyone.

1. Share Only What’s Relevant

Upload media that directly supports your questions or answers. Examples:

  • Screenshots of error messages or settings

  • Short videos demonstrating a workflow

  • Files that illustrate your issue or solution

Avoid uploading unrelated content or anything that feels like promotional.

2. Protect Privacy

Never share personal or sensitive information in your uploads. This includes:

  • Names, addresses, phone numbers, or email addresses

  • License keys or serial numbers

  • Internal company data or confidential documents

If your screenshot contains sensitive details, blur or crop them before posting.

3. Respect Copyright and Workplace Confidentiality

Only upload media you own or have permission to share. Do not post:

  • Copyrighted images or videos without consent

  • Content taken from paid courses or proprietary materials

  • Screenshots or files from protected work environments or internal systems

If you’re unsure, err on the side of caution and describe the issue instead.

4. Keep It Appropriate

Uploads must follow our Community Code of Conduct. That means:

  • No offensive or harmful content

  • No explicit or adult material

  • No violent or illegal imagery

5. Make It Accessible

Help everyone benefit from your post:

  • Add alt text or a short description for images

  • Use clear filenames for uploaded documents

  • Avoid overly large files that may be hard to download

6. File Size and Format

For best results:

  • Keep images under 5MB (.jpg, .jpeg, .png, .gif)

  • Keep file/size under 50 MB (.pdf, .zip, .xml, .txt, .csv .doc/docx, Xls/xlsx, .ppt/pptx)

  • Compress videos when possible

Remember: Media should make your post easier to understand—not harder to navigate. When in doubt, keep it simple and relevant.
