Considerations for Salesforce Marketing Cloud API connection to Adobe CDP

Hello all,

My team and I are currently working on testing a connection for Adobe CDP to Salesforce Marketing Cloud via API connection. While testing, a few questions have come up and were wondering if anyone has any insight into them:

  • Since there is no option to set up an export frequency cadence like there is for the Files SFMC connection, how does the API connect behave if you want to send it multiple times a day?
  • How does Adobe CDP segment ingestion to SFMC behave for existing users and net new users via the SFMC API method?
  • Within Salesforce Marketing Cloud, you must create attributes with a FIELD NAME that exactly matches the value specified within Mapping ID for each activated Platform segment. Are there best practices around creating the Mapping ID field or any other necessary fields in SFMC?

the mapping id is an attribute of type text.  the idea is to create a connection between the audience_id within the Adobe RTCDP platform and SFMC.

Hello @ryanmoravick

The mappingId field should contain the audience_id from the Adobe RTCDP platform.  This will allow you to associate the records in SFMC back to the audience qualification within the Adobe RTCDP platform.

The export of an API based destination is typically done on segment evaluation.  Once a profile qualifies or disqualifies for a segment which has been selected for an API based destination this profile will be activated to the API based destination.

Hey @brekrut

Thank you! Regarding the Mapping ID, this corresponds to an attribute that is text type in the Email Demographics data extension in SFMC. Can this be any attribute in the data extension as long as it is the text type? Is the purpose to simply create a connection between the data extension in SFMC and the audience in CDP?
