APIs for source and account setup

Does anyone have any experience setting up the source connectors and accounts via the apis? Ive managed to script and create the schemas in their entirety, but looking at the documentation its pointing to flow control apis? ive looked through there and cannot find a way to extract the current setup (apart from there not being specific steps to extract the source connections and accounts, I'm also getting an internal error 500, which is basically server side failure, even with sys admin priviledges). thanks in advance
