Hi Everyone, I'm looking for some help with Velocity scripting to auto populate the Email ID (or Asset ID) in order to include this Marketo system Asset ID as a parameter attached to the links in my email. I found a few articles in the community (like this one: https://nation.marketo.com/t5/ideas/email-id-system-token/idi-p/278839#comments) that uses Velocity scripting to extract the email ID from the xMarketoIdHdr header.  I used the script from this post and the VS token I created does work and populated the Asset ID if added to the email as token within a text element. However, when I add this token or variable to my URL as a parameter, this does not appear to work unless I disable my tracking which is what I don't want. So, when I append the URL to include this VS Token parameter, this is the result and the EmailID looks like this (also note that the Asset ID isn't populated here:https://www.example.com/index.html?cta_id=article-ban-masthead&E

Hi everyone,  We recently discovered that Marketo has removed the Forward to Friend functionality, which was a highly requested and successful feature for our teams. Our primary use case was:A business partner forwards an event invitation to a colleague or client. A new email is sent to that recipient. When the recipient registers, Marketo attributes the registration to the forwarded email (helpful for tracking and reporting). Without this feature, we have had issues when people manually forward emails - elements break, tracking becomes unreliable, and attribution is lost. Has anyone found a good workaround or alternative to replicate this functionality?  Thank you!

Hey Team, One quick question on Dynamic contentIf a Marketo Email Program is scheduled with Recipient Time Zone (RTZ), the email is processed approximately 24 hours before the scheduled send. Once processed and the Send Activity is stamped, no changes to the content are possible.My question is: in the case of an email containing a dynamic content module mapped to a segmentation, will the recipient see the segment value at the time the email was processed, or the updated segment value at the time of delivery?For example, I have a dynamic module that shows the number of items in a cart. At processing time, the recipient had 3 items in the cart, so the segment maps to “3.” By the next day (delivery time), the number has changed to 5 and the segment reflects “5.” Will the recipient see 3 (the value at processing) or 5 (the updated value at delivery)?

These constraints have been confusing, but is someone seeing a behavior where referrer is NOT the URL where the form is embedded and instead it's the URL which directs users to the URL where the form is embedded? And what we usually see as referrer is now the Webpage constraint? Had examples where the URL where I filled out the form was not the referrer.

Hi Team, I have requested MSI access from Marketo Admin and received the invite. However, I was also asked to create a Salesforce profile to complete the access setup. I would like to clarify a few points before proceeding:Is sending an Invite through Marketo Admin and Authenticate through salesforce is the correct approach to get MSI access, or is there an other method.When clicking “Activate account with Salesforce”, will this action have any impact on the existing Salesforce contact record.Can MSI users (Remove/Delete) only be managed once I have access to Sales Insight Actions, or is there another way to manage users.Thanks in advance for your guidance. 

Hello!Is there a filter in smart list to find the people who Aborted the email campaign, similar to opened/clicked/bounced. Ref: Email Performance Report - Aborted: Number of emails that could not be delivered and no bounce event was received. An email is automatically termed as Aborted if a response is not received within three days of the email send. Thanks!

Let me start by noting this technique is only for people at your email domain, not for lead email addresses. Guessing leads’ names is what spammers do. If you forgot to require First Name and Last Name on a lead gen form, complete their profile responsibly.   Sometimes, due to technical gaps, you only have the email address of an account owner or other internal user. If your company used 100% predictable logic to generate the address, you can (fairly) safely synthesize a friendly name while waiting for CRM to do a proper field mapping.   That logic is:   Given a display name where (1) all characters are valid in an email address and (2) all words are in title case, convert spaces to dots and append the domain. For example, the name Sandy-Jo B. O'Shelley is converted to the email address sandy-jo.b.o'shelley@example.com. Hi,  Could you please confirm my logic is correct? I have a Trigger + 2 filters in the Smart list of a Trigger Campaign. However, I want the filters to be with OR logic between them. Since the logic ANY/ALL/Advanced applies only to filters, not to triggers, is it correct to set up ANY as logic?  I want either of those 2 conditions in the filters to be met when the trigger triggers, I don't want both filter requirements to be met at the same time. I have an existing lead field that contains the value for user Company Names, and with some company name ending in "Inc." we get an extra period at the end of the sentence where the token is placed.I want to set up a script token that can identify if the last character in the lead field string is a period and remove it. I've looked into substring a bit, but haven't found a working solution.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

We have two systems, Salesforce and Marketo, which are synced.In Marketo, records are synced to Salesforce based on the email address.In Salesforce, records created from Marketo are matched using the Salesforce ID.We do not have duplicate management enabled in Salesforce.We want Marketo to check the email address instead of the Salesforce ID when creating or updating leads.The process should start with a Marketo landing page or form submission.If the email does not exist in Salesforce, a new Lead should be created.If the email already exists, the existing Salesforce Lead should be updated.Additionally, when a lead comes from Salesforce to Marketo, Marketo matches it using the Salesforce ID instead of the email address.Is there any solution or configuration that allows Marketo to match leads based on the email address rather than the Salesforce ID when syncing from Salesforce?

Hi,we developed one integration with Marketo Engage.By using the create email template API, we save the email templates in the folder with id=27 and type="Folder". To date, Folder - 27 is one system and default folder for all users.But in same cases we got the error: 711 - 27 Folder is not an email template folder. Why?Any help is welcomed.Thanks in advance

Hi, We’ve noticed something unusual regarding bot activity in Marketo and I’d like to check if others are seeing the same.In the past, certain click patterns were consistently flagged by Marketo as bot clicks. Recently, we’ve observed that the exact same type of activity is no longer being marked as bot activity, even though the behavior clearly looks automated. What’s more, we are seeing this with the same contacts where bot activity was previously recognized correctly, but is no longer flagged as such. Some of the unusual characteristics we see are:Operating system and IP address changing between clicks.Sometimes two opens for the same email: one recorded on Linux and another on Windows.The OS switching specifically between Linux desktop and Windows desktop.Page views being logged right after the clicks, which doesn’t seem typical for bots.Are others noticing this kind of behavior as well? Could this be the reason why Marketo is no longer able to flag this as bot activity?&

Hello,    We are noticing in multiple sends that there are thousands of people not being sent emails. They qualify for the campaign and then nothing happens in their activity log to show why they weren't sent. We used query book to try to see if they reached communication limits since I do not know of an easy way to pull that report in marketo (maybe there is one that I don't know of) and we did not see any of them had reached communication limits. What other things have I not thought of? What else can we check to find out why they are qualifying but being sent email with no activity log records?   Thanks!

Hi -  I'm currently working on a nurture targeting MQLs who have stopped responding to our BDRs. The emails will come from their BDR, but we are having a hard time filling out the From name and the signature. We have an sfdc custom object that accurately pulls in the contact's BDR email address (so reply-to and sender email is accurate) but we do not have a reliable field to pull in the contact's BDR Owner's name (From Name). Does anyone have a velocity script to pull in the first and last name from the email address field? The structure of our BDRs emails is as follows: john.smith@company.com So in an ideal state the velocity script would pull in the first and last name like: John Smith Thanks!

Hello, When going over some performance numbers I saw that an email that was scheduled to go out to 8800 people only got delivered to 8. Below are the screenshots. Any insight on to what might have happened so that it doesn't happen again would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,Do you know if Marketo has a way to produce an email as a PDF?  Currently we send out tons of certificates and what this process to be automated within Marketo.  For example when someone qualifies for a certificate Marketo would automatically generate the PDF and send it to them in an email.Thoughts?Randall

Hello, I am having trouble setting up a correct flow for a default program which has a nested email program. I need to send 4 emails with fairly different audiences, but some of the contacts still overlap across my Target Audience Smart lists I've created.  These 4 emails need to be sent at the same time, and I cannot interfere with the lists, I have to make a setup that would help me avoid overlapping. How could I achieve this? I was thinking about creating a Smart campaign and using choices in the flow. Would there be another way? I was also thinking about a Smart list creation that would have the role of an Exclusion list and for each email, I would exclude the other 3 Target Audience lists that are not corresponding. However, I don't know how that would work since the emails do get sent at the same time.  Thoughts?

I understand that there's a limit of 40 custom field tokens that can be used directly in a Marketo email. If this limit is exceeded, Marketo throws an error indicating that the token limit has been crossed. I'm curious whether using more than 40 custom tokens in a Velocity Script could cause any issues, such as dynamic content not displaying correctly or email delivery failures. In my specific use case, I'm currently using 42 custom consent field tokens within if-elseif statements to conditionally show or hide the unsubscribe link in the email footer. Has anyone had experience working with Velocity Scripts in Marketo and encountered issues when using more than 40 custom tokens? I'd appreciate any insights or best practices.

Hi Team, I have a client who is using Email Programs to send all emails in their instance (Invites, Reminders, Follow-ups) to leverage the Recipient Time Zone functionality. I had a few quick questions:Is it considered best practice to send all emails through an Email Program? What are the benefit or drawbacks of following this practice.Can we override the Email Program send limit?If we set a Smart Campaign limit in the Admin section, will it also impact Email Program send limits?Could someone please clarify. Thanks in advance!
