I am planning on setting up a home automation system and am looking for any experiences you might have.

Which platform/system/automation did you go with?

What aspects of your home did you automate? (Security, Lighting, Climate, etc.)

Did you do the installation yourself/leave it to the professionals?

What issues, if any, did you run in to?

Would you suggest any products/brands? Any you would avoid?
