Cross Project Dependencies Enhancements

We would like to see three enhancements of functionality with cross project dependencies. The examples below are described from the point of view that project A has a task which is dependent upon a task in project B:

1. Update project A's task % complete as project B's task progresses.

2. When Project B's task is closed, close the task in Project A. Since not all customers may want that behavior, providing the option to choose whether or not to do this when setting up the dependency would be great.

3. Create a notification to project A's PM when project B's task is completed, or gets behind schedule.

Alison - Maybe it is my Monday morning brain, but I'm confused by what you are asking. "Update Project A's task % complete as Project B's task progresses." If you are using cross-project predecessors, aren't we saying that Project A's task can't start until after Project B's task is complete? So you wouldn't A's task to 50% when B's task is 50%.

Allison is saying that Project B is a task within Project A. It may be an issue that popped up, or a more complex Task that needs it's own project. As Project B moves along, it should progress the % complete in that task, which would also impact the Project Complete %.

My apologies! I didn't see these comments! Greg did a great job of summarizing me. :)

The scenario is that the Task in Project A is a placeholder for work taking place in Project B. There are just so many ways that projects tie to together or are dependent upon one another.

Agreed - there are many ways that we can tie things together (which is great!). So being able to have projects, issues, tasks, etc. "talk" to one another would make for a better user experience. Particularly for our internal clients who don't live in Workfront, like we do!

We're looking for this exact same enhancement!

We want to use cross project predecessors with finish-finish. When task B finishes we want to show that it's finished in task A. We have a master acquisition project and each department has stand a lone acquisition projects to track the detail within each acquisition. We want to reflect the milestone progress on each of those departmental projects in the master project.

Did this ever go anywhere? I'm trying to set up a magazine production schedule in Workfront. Each story is its own project, but I'd like to have an overall project that indicates what percent each story project is at. Our editor didn't like having 600+ tasks per issue, so I tried to solve that problem with cross-project dependencies, but I'm not seeing any progress updates on the overall project when tasks on the story projects are completed.
