Disable Scrolling in text fields revisited

I have been trying to folling the threads that already dealt with this and have been trying to enter the scripts but have had no luck getting this to work. I have a form that was created in Designer 7 and has quite a few fields including several drop down fields but I have 5 fields that I need to limit the length on. I guess I am having trouble knowing which script to use and where to enter it at. I do not know much of anything about scripting so I have really been stumped on this. Any help would be appreciated.
