Copy/Replicate Adobe Launch Properties (Templates)

Being able to quickly copy a templated launch property would allow for quick standups of scripts ready to launch analytics, experience cloud id service, target, ads, facebook pixels or all of the above. Our use case comes from wanting to get a standardized, unique script so we can quickly add adobe analytics to a number of websites. This is extremely helpful for clients/agencies managing many (100+) websites and report suites.

This was exatcly the idea I was looking for.

When I need to make new web property for Launch, I would like to duplicate older web property and this way I would have all the basic settings (data elements, rules, settings) ready and with only few modifications I would have tracking done in a speed of light to a new site. (Another option would be just the ability to copy rules and data elements between web properties, would take bit more time, but easier than building everything from scratch)

I think the most obvious way to trigger this would be to select a property from the Property list, and then click a button that says Copy.  Does that seem reasonable to folks?

Yes, I think that approach would work.  Some users are likely to have "clean templates" created, and others would simply use an existing property, then edit the resulting copy into what they need.  This approach would work for both needs in the same manner.

Can you dream about it? Sure =)

Can I guarantee it? Unfortunately no.  We will first work on rule copy (within a property), and the ability to copy ruls, data elements, and extensions across properties.  Then we'll work on copying the whole property.

What about making a sort of abstract property? That way you could easily share common rules without having to change them everywhere after were copied

Something like this is an idea that we're working on for next year, not sure exactly how it would work yet, but totally recognize the need for a central place to modify rule components and data elements that can be used by multiple properties and managed in one place.

First rev of this has been released.  You can now copy your rules.  Next iteration will allow you to copy them to another property, and after that we'll work on bulk operations.
