What is CJA?

Customer Journey Analytics is an application service built on Adobe Experience Platform (AEP) that lets you use the power of Analysis Workspace and combine it with various other data sources like online, brick and mortar, CRM, call center data, etc. Using the Experience Data Model (XDM), data can be uniformly represented, organized, integrated all in one place for reporting.

In order to start off with this integration there are some prerequisites that you need to have.

Prerequisites:

  1. CJA license
  2. Provisioned to AEP
  3. Currently using Adobe Analytics

Data flow from Adobe Analytics(AA) to AEP:

There are different ways to ingest data into AEP namely:

  1. Batch Ingestion
  2. Streaming Ingestion
  3. Sources

In this case, we will be using the Sources method for ingestion and use Adobe Analytics as the source into AEP. The Analytics source connector streams data collected by Analytics to the Platform in real time, converting SCDS-formatted Analytics data into Experience Data Model (XDM) fields for consumption by Platform.

Generally, Adobe Launch is used as the Tag Management System. Once the data is collected and undergoes data processing, it is then streamed into AEP in batches into AEP datasets that can be used in Query Service / Data Distiller and other data-discovery applications.

Below is the architecture of the data flow from Adobe Analytics to CJA using the Analytics Data Connector.

Integration Steps:

  1. Create a source connection with Adobe Analytics
  • Login into Adobe Experience Cloud
  • Select Adobe Experience Platform as a solution
  • Select your relevant Sandbox
  • Select Sources under Connections
  • From the catalog, select Adobe Analytics
  • Click on Add Data

After clicking on Add Data, the workflow starts. Below are the steps to set up the workflow.

2. Setup the workflow

You would need to select the report suite from where you want the data to come to the platform.

Note: If you are seeing it greyed out, that means it is being already used in another workflow

Click Next. You will need to select “Default Schema.” A default schema creates a new schema on your behalf, containing the Adobe Analytics Experience Event Template field group.

After that, you can give the dataflow a name, review your connection, and save the connection. You can go to dataflows to see this data flow created.

Now, the data from Analytics has been ingested into the platform in batch format. Below is the screenshot of the ingested records in the dataset activity window.

You can click on ‘Preview dataset’ to see if the data has been ingested. You can select each part of the schema to see the values in the schema fields.

Additionally, once the connection is established, it can backfill up to 13 months of historical data. Once you have the data flow set up, you can now navigate to Customer Journey Analytics to start using this data in conjunction with other data sets like your offline datasets, point of sale, and brick-and-mortar to stitch visitor journeys together.
