Marketing channels expiry date question.

Avatar

Level 2

I have below marketing channels setup for Paid search and affiliates.

We want the paid search to expire after 30 days and affiliate channel after 7 days. I have tracking code set to expire after 7 days. How do you handle above stakeholder question?

There is only one expiry date for this dimension as a whole... Channels are just values that are held in the same dimension...

That said, in Workspace you can apply custom attribution models onto your conversion metrics to look at different models such as 30 days.. but if you are using last touch and an affiliate comes in after your paid search, then it will still show affiliate...

But you could try some other models such as Inverse J... and see if you can get a model that works for you... However, this custom attribution column will still work against all the Channels.. not just your Paid Search...

The other option is to look at your Paid Search dimension... this is basically a visit level attribution, but you can apply a custom attribution like above to see 30 days... but this still won't replicate your Marketing Channel logic, where another channel will override the last touch value (like Social Networks or Emails)... It will just be a simple view of Paid/Natural Search in 30 day time frame without any other channel affecting it....
