This Will Be Done By date

I have reassigned a task to a new user and changed the due date of the project to be a couple of weeks from now. The Planned Start and Planned Completion dates have updated, but for some reason the "This Will Be Done By" date still shows last month, with no way I can tell to update it. The task has been assigned to a user other than myself. Why does this date not update with the planned completion date?

Hi Kenny, The "This Will Be Done By" date is called the Commit Date in Workfront. This is the day that the originally assignee said they would have it done. Even if you update the planned completion date, this date will stay the same until the new assignee picks a date. You will see there is a thread on her about how annoying the commit date is and hopefully they will give us the option to turn it off for our instance if we don't want to use it. Until then though, I let my people know to either use the date in the My Work area (we customized ours to only show Planned Completion) or to go to the task details. Never, to look at the date on the right hand side. Anthony Imgrund Project Manager - Strategic Operations FCB New York NY 212-716-7743

You could also have the person send the "Working On" task back to the "Work request" and recommit to work on it. This can be done on the right side of the task in the drop down box. At that point it will recapture the changed date on the project itself. Yes, agreed. it can be unfortunately changed only by person assigned to it a task. Dagmara Garwell Project Support Analyst Bakkavor Spalding 01775763215 United Kingdom

Welcome to my pet hate topic :) Workfront have been making some noises about allowing us to get rid of (or hide) commit dates at some stage, and it can't come soon enough. For the moment, one other option if you are SysAdmin is to login as the user and change the commit date. It's pretty laborious though and really only for exceptions.
