Resource Planner Question

Hi All, Hoping someone can help... this might seem like a really obvious question to others but only something I stumbled upon earlier. Does a person have to be assigned to a task for the hours they have logged against that task show on the resource planner? We have had a few instances where we have a specialist worker in a team that works on slightly different projects from the rest of the team so they are the only one worker ever assigned to the tasks. The specialist worker is currently off on holiday but someone required part of a piece of their work to be done so another worker in their team completed part of this for them and logged time against the task. The worker that helped out did not amend the assignments as the specialist worker will still be picking this up when they get back from holiday. As a result of this I have noticed that the worker that helped cover actual hours are not correct in the resource planner. Has anyone else noticed this and is this working as should? Hi Vicky, Given the "planning" nature of the Resource Planner and the "unplanned" nature of the edge case you've described, I would not be surprised if omitting unplanned actual hours is As Designed. If you've not done so already, I'd also suggest a) confirming whether "ensuring the unplanned user has the Task's job role" is sufficient, or b) whether "the unplanned user must be assigned" is indeed the case, in order for those unplanned user's hours to appear. Hi @Doug Den Hoed - AtAppStore Sorry if I wasn't clear, its the actual hours that we are looking at in this case. So on the view by user view on the resource planner you have the column for actual hours, the hours logged on a task you aren't assigned to don't seem to count. Yes, you were clear Vicky; and (although I could have been more clear), I, too, was referring to Actual Hours in my previous post, too: to restate... My guess is that the WF Resource Planner "drives" via the assignment and therefore "skips" actual hours not directly connected via an assignment (even if the user has the right role). And my intention is to confirm that our Capacity Charting solution (which allows charting of Capacity, Planned and Actual hours) does include such hours, as I believe it is important to include them. Doug's assessment of the situation is correct, the Resource Planner focuses on tracking the planned work and effort against it, while the case you mentioned is an emergency scenario which is not accounted for during planning. Apologies @Doug Den Hoed - AtAppStore this was me not reading your response properly, I read your response as unplanned hours not unplanned actual hours! Thanks for clarifying @Vazgen Babayan . Its a shame it works like this as when looking at resource planning we wanted to be able to look at all hours then have been logged, these won't be counted in the planned columns.
