need to exclude clients from automatic workflow assignment on revised creatives

Some of our PMs have noticed that if revised creatives are uploaded over an original creative that was sent for client approval, the client is automatically for requested to provide approval on the new version. (Basically, the workflow of the original is replicated for the new version) For our process, we review revisions internally and then send it out for client approval. Short of having designers remove clients from the workflow when uploading revisions over an original creative, is there an automated way to control this? Catherine Hayes The Channel Company

We break it up into two tiers. Our designers upload it to a project managers Workflow and then the stage after that is set to a manual release and the PM will adjust it and release it at that point. It is manual and can sometimes slow the process down, but it has been working for us. Marissa Hindman The Henry Ford

We don't use automated workflows for this and other reasons. When the next version is uploaded, the designers are trained to delete everybody from the list and only share it with the Marketing Manager who is responsible for then sharing it with anybody else who needs to review/approve. Training was slow at first (they tend not to read things too closely, being visual people) but after the wrong person got the proof, and there was angst and passive aggressive emails, they learned the hard way. Now if I can get them to learn to look at the roles/notification settings and make sure they are correct ... that is the next goal.

How are the revised proofs being uploaded as versions? Here's what I've noticed ... If you drag and drop a file over an existing file that has a proofing workflow, then the new version picks up the original file's workflow and automatically sends out proofing notifications. If you select the file and then use the More dropdown to select new proof version, then the proofing workflow window pops up and you can remove the people you don't want and/or add people you do want.
