Navigate from Proof in Workfront Proof to Project Proof Originated In

I would like to find a way to navigate from the Workfront Proof to the Workfront Project the proof was generated from. Most of our proofing reviewers navigate to the proof from the email notification that the proof has been shared with them. I would like to have a way for a person that has a Workfront Proof license to be able to navigate to the Workfront Project that the proof was generated from. Is there a way already? Liisa Blick Amway

The person you are wanting to navigate into the project must have a WF licenses and for now there is no link from the proof back to the project without it. Bummer right? However, if you have a licenses then you can click on the upper right corner "see it in WF" which takes you to the document in WF. If you have shared that project with the person in question, then they can then click in the upper left to get to the project. Remember, you can give access to just tasks, documents or the overall project. This matters. Sometimes the cloud based proof is just that, a proof. It is not connected back to the project. Thus, the person cant see any custom form you might have or other specifics. If you give a "free" licenses to everyone they can see Workfront and IF you give them permissions in the set up they can make requests of WF. I have both request license that can and can not do actual requests. We don't use the review license because it will not allow them to see the project items we need them to see. A review license is really useless for us. Proofing licenses is only needed for those "loading" the proof, not approving it. I think there are several threads on the idea exchange about having a link on the proof that will open the project view if the person opening the proof has a licenses. You can upvote that. Simple, but I hope it helps you. Samantha Senior Specialist, Creative Services 817-424-2186

Hello Samantha - I do not see a "see it in WF" option in the upper right corner of the proof in Workfront Proof. I just worked with one of my Plan license users. She selected Go To Proof from her email notification and it opens the proof in Workfront Proof. There is no navigation option we can see that would take us to the document in the project documents tab in Workfront that we used to generate the proof from. Liisa Blick Amway

The “see it in Workfront” link is only in the email notification. There is no link from a proof back to the project or task it is associated with. Extremely frustrating.

Thanks for this info. It answered one of the questions I posted last week. I added my vote to the idea in the Idea Exchange. Carla Johnson Mercy Health

Thanks Jill, I realized that Liisa and I had a private conversation and figured this out as well. I thought I had listed it public. But yes if you have a license in WF (free or paid) you get the notifications that show the "see it in WF" and you can get to the job that way. If you only are allowed to proof and do not have a license you will not get the connection via the proof. Bummer right? Samantha Senior Specialist, Creative Services 817-424-2186

Thanks Samantha, Is this functionality something that Workfront is considering? It would be extremely helpful to allow license users the ability to navigate to the project in Workfront from the Workfront Proof that was created in that project. It would also be helpful to allow a license user the ability to compare the proof shared with them to another proof in the same document folder in the project. Currently the only way to compare two proofs in the same project document folder is to navigate to the Workfront project and select the two in the document folder. Would be more efficient to allow this compare feature from within the Workfront Proof without having to find the project within Workfront. Liisa Liisa Blick Amway

Hey Liisa, Everything you are describing sounds really cool. From what I have been able to figure out, is that WF is working as designed. I would take your last two comments and post them on the idea exchange. There seems to be several ideas about how this proofing back to WF projects is needing to work for people. Hopefully we can all upvote it enough to get someone looking at it. If you should want a workaround, you can have the person uploading the proofs do a one off, and load the two separate proofs onto one NEW proof as a first version and a second version then someone can see them side by side. Certainly not ideal but if REALLY needed you can make it happen. Samantha Senior Specialist, Creative Services 817-424-2186 CC: Nate for the possibility to combine several of these ideas on the exchange that seem (to us) to be the same ask. Know you working on this buddy, thanks.
