Estimate at Complete Hours

Hi all, I am really struggling with how Workfront calculates the EAC. They do this: Actual Hours + Planned Hours = Estimate at Complete We load our planned or forecasted hours for the entire project and then load actual hours into the system as they incur. So at the beginning of the project Planned Hours = 500 (100 for each month Jan to May) Actual Hours = 0 EAC = 500 Lets say we load 100 hours of actual from January. So now we have this Planned Hours = 500 Actual Hours = 100 (January) EAC = 600 This is not correct, on 2/1, the 100 planned hours from January should no longer be considerd planned hours. That would make the EAC Future Planned Hours = 400 Actual Hours = 100 (January) EAC = 500 John Hoebler Cross Country Consulting

Looks like WF isn't taking CPI (Cost Performance Indicator; ie , your current rate of performance) into account when calculating EAC. We do our actual hours in SAP, so we calculate our EV metrics outside of WF. Attached are the formulas we are using. EAC = BAC/CPI where BAC = Total Plan Hours CPI = Earn Value/Actual Hours EV = Planned Hours x % Complete OR in other words, the sum of (planned hours for completed tasks) + (planned hours for completed portions of open tasks) Katherine Haven, PMP VP, Director, Business Technologies - PMO FCB
