Calculated fields from custom fields

Avatar

Level 2
Hi All, I'm trying to create a calculated field on a custom form that subtracts one custom field from another. Is this possible? I'm using SUB(field name, field name), but it doesn't accept it. If I use actual Workfront built in task fields, the formula is fine with the same syntax. I'm assuming it's the custom field part it doesn't like. Is there any way around that? Thanks, Jen Jennifer Gulledge Elkay Manufacturing Company Inc

I have a calculated field like that on a user form. It's the same syntax that you have: SUB(Current PTO Earned,PTO Used) The only thing you have to make sure to do is create the field 1 and field 2 fields first, save the form, reopen the form then it will let you create the calculation. Also in the case of a SUB, make sure all 3 fields are number format. Adina Pierce Cisco

Jen, can you provide screenshots of each of your custom fields and their configuration in the tool? Greg Troester CHG Healthcare Services, Inc.

When in doubt try the {DE:Field Name} syntax. Workfront converts this back to the syntax you entered most of the time, but it often works. You must use this if your Field Name has certain characters in it like punctuation. -- Melinda Layten, Senior Consultant Work Management Improvement CapabilitySource Phone: (484) 505-6855 site: www.capabilitysource.com email: melinda.layten@capabilitysource.com - we simplify your work so you can run your business -

Thanks for all your help. I tried a few things based off of your feedback, and I was able to get it working. It ended up being the syntax of my custom fields. The formula didn't like that I had a $ in the name of the field. Jennifer Gulledge Elkay Manufacturing Company Inc

James, JAN is capitalized in your formula, however not in your field name. This may affect it. Patricia Greene JLL
