New Home - Calendar

Description

As a user of Workfront, I want the ability to schedule my work on a calendar widget on the home screen so that I can time block efficiently.

Why is this feature important to you

time blocking is an important part of my work process and the inability to mirror or complete that in Workfront is limiting.

How would you like the feature to work

Utilize the durations/planned dates for tasks/issues assigned to me and prompt them to show on a calendar view that connects with outlook to book time around existing meetings. Reference https://www.usemotion.com/ as general interface of widget... another ai connection for us too!

Current Behavior

calendar was removed from the New Home screen

Agreed, we would also like to have the calendar added back in. Our creative teams heavily used the legacy calendar to work through their day to day work. The visual layout of the calendar made it easy for them to know what was left and upcoming for tasks to complete.

Agreed. I've worked to make it known to Workfront here and via email with account manager how important that feature is. User the other Calendar functionality in Workfront, I was able to build an individual task calendar for one person and am testing to see if it provides them with the type of information they would need/is a good enough stand in for what was / is the default Calendar functionality via the home / work list. Is that something that your admin has been able to try for you/has anyone else tested this out?

Agreed! We get this request from both our Creatives & Project Owners. Particularly with the looming Oct sunsetting of legacy home.

Agree. This should have been incorporated into the New Home to begin with. Quite a number of my team use the current 'Calendar' view option on the Work List and now, with the New Home, they will not have this capability. And, although Workfront has indicated the Calendar View will be available/brought back with the new "Priorities" functionality (when that is released), my users will still be left with a few weeks/months of not having a functionality that they have been used to using for years.

If it helps, I built a user-based calendar that shows tasks. It's not perfect, but I'm offering it as a stop gap and hopefully it helps with something...

Here's what I shared with my team in my training/FAQ:

What about the outgoing Calendar Functionality in the default Work List?

I’ve had lots of questions in this space, after the first time it was shared. The default Calendar functionality of the old Home Experience will no longer be available as of October 17 release. I understand this is a concern for many Shared Resources and is something we cannot control.

To help with this, I have created a separate used-based Task Calendar to fill this visual calendar gap.
Pin this Calendar now in Workfront and test it out.

This User Based Task Calendar will also appear soon on the Creative Standup Dashboard.

When clicking on a task in the calendar, carefully hover over the task to see details / info about task and click directly into the task for related info. You can select a day, week or month calendar view. Shading of the tasks on the User Based Calendar relates to the DUE DATE of the tasks. Tasks with due tasks in the past will appear in a lighter shade.

Workfront will have more info later on the release date of default calendar functionality in the New Home Experience. More training will be provided around that default calendar when it is available.
