Workfront Performance Issues [Root cause: Forcepoint Endpoint (websense)]

Description of issue We (nikegbm) recently noticed severe performance issues running Workfront. It started with one user running on a current Macbook Pro and eventually, other users were seeing the same thing. Drop-down menus (i.e. Views) would take several seconds to populate, report prompts could take as much as a minute to appear, etc. Just about any page can take from several seconds to a minute to appear. The issue was initially affecting Chrome browser on MacOS, although this has evolved to other browsers as well. We opened a support ticket with Workfront which led to a few troubleshooting ideas. We quicky isolated the problem to a single user, single computer, but that conclusion did not last--in a matter of days, more and more users were affected. Eventually, we noticed that the Fairpoint Endpoint plugin, an malware blocker fornerly known as WebSense, was automatically pushed to Chrome via enterprise policy (cannot stop it). Although the plugin likely provides added security and protection against malware/adware, it also impacts performance. We proved this was the problem by opening Workfront in an "Incognito Window" which by default runs without plugins enabled. Root Cause So far, the root cause appears to be the Fairpoint Endpoint plugin. It severly affects performance of Workfront in many different areas, from viewing a report to clicking a drop-down menu. NOTE: This is not a Workfront problem--it is a Nike Techology issue. In other words, no need to open a ticket with WF. Workaround Running in an "Incognito Window" bypasses the plugin and you see maximum performance! However, this is inconvenient. We are currently working with Nike Tech to find a better solution to this issue. In addition, Safari is now affected (likely also getting the plugin via enterprise group policy pushes). Finally, we are noticing other web-based tools may be affected in a similar fashion, although Google Drive seems to be immune. I wanted to pass this along to the Nike community hear in case others are seeing performance issues these past few weeks.

As of March 16, 2017, we were able to get attask-ondemand.com "whitelisted" with the Forcepoint/Endpoint scanning extension so Workfront is no longer getting scanned from a security perspective. This was never necessary to begin with, as WF already passed nike's platinum level security, but it has been causing performance issues for us since October 2016.
